Licensing Performance Improvement Seminar

Mark your calendar for June 23-24, 2008. Scientech is hosting its popular Licensing Performance Improvement Seminar in Las Vegas, Nevada. Our two-day seminar will provide presentations on hot emerging and challenging topics of interest to the nuclear power industry.  Last year's participants suggested new topics that we have incorporated into the 2008 agenda.

We are also pleased to announce the addition of Mr. Scott Morris, USNRC Deputy Director, NSIR, to our list of speakers.  Mr. Morris will address "Ramifications of Power Reactor Rulemaking on Security Issues - Focusing on 10 CFR Part 73."

Other potential topics for the 2008 seminar include:

  • Implementation of the new work hours rule and how our interpretation of GL 82-12 almost put us in willful violation space, Keith Jury, Vice President, Exelon
  • A Continuing Davis-Besse Case Study on Regulatory Sensitivity in Maintaining a Relationship with the NRC, Greg Halnon,  Director, Regulatory Affairs, FirstEnergy Corp.
  • Safety Culture, Laurie Lahti, Licensing Manager, Entergy Nuclear, Palisades Station
  • "Recent ROP Experience", Fred Mashburn, Sr. Program Manager,  TVA
  • Cross Cutting Issue Management, Ron Baumer, Compliance Engineer, NMC, Monticello
  • ADR-Alternative Dispute Resolution, Laurie Lahti, Licensing Manager, Entergy, Palisades Station

Seminar presentations and open discussions will allow attendees to share experiences and lessons-learned. This seminar further will provide exposure to a broad industry cross-section, offering an important networking opportunity.

Logistics

The LPI Seminar will be held at the Flamingo Hotel, located on Las Vegas Boulevard in the heart of Las Vegas.  A block of rooms has been set aside, and attendees are responsible for making their own hotel reservations.  As hotels in this area fill up fast, be sure to make your room reservations early, and mention Scientech to receive the specially, negotiated room rate of $119.

The block of rooms will be released by the hotels one month before the start of the seminar/workshop and, after that time, neither room availability nor the negotiated room rate can be guaranteed.

When making room reservations at the Flamingo, please use the group code SFSCI8.

Fees

The cost for the two day LPI Seminar is $995.
